*****
Please welcome Dante's new Italian teacher Biagio Cemente.
Biagio was born in the Italian Southern region of Puglia. After high school, he joined the Naval Academy
in Livorno and was in active duty for two years. During this experience he travelled almost every weekend to the
near city of Florence and followed his passion for the arts and the architecture. In 1991, he decided to resign
from the Naval Academy and enroll the Università di Firenze at the faculty of Architecture.
In the meanwhile, he enjoyed studying foreign languages and cultures, travelling worldwide: Iran, Egypt,
United States and several European Countries.
In Florence he had the opportunity to work with American Study Abroad Programs and started his passion to teach
Italian Language and Culture and, in collaboration with Loescher® and Einaudi®, he has created a handbook
and exercises program still in use in a variety of study abroad programs.
In 2001, after he earned the doctorate degree in Architectural Advance Structural Technologies at the Università
di Firenze, he started working as project manager in different Architectural firms and as language analyst
and consultant for major Italian Companies which gave him the chance to travel around Italy and emphasized
the beauty for the culture, people and different form of dialects of “Il Bel Paese”.
His experience with other cultures and his knowledge of Art, Architecture, History and culture of Italy make
him a unique teacher who transmitted such passion to the students and make them active part of the class.
In 2009, he moved to Colorado, with his wife Jeanette (she’s from Colorado) and their two little
daughters Vivian Sofia and Liliana Josephine.
In his free time he joined and coaches a soccer team (he’s Italian what do you expect?) and travels oversea
to Italy to visit his family and friends when time allows.
